Bosch Rexroth Canada Corp. was originally founded near Welland, ON in 1961 as Basic Structure Steel Fabricators, a partnership between Hans de Waard and Jack Oskam. The company originally serviced local industries in the Niagara region and over time expanded to also provide complete machining capabilities.

In the mid-60's the UpPUP hydraulic work platform was developed. A new company was formed to accomplish this - Basic Hydraulics and Industrial Equipment Ltd. An engineer on staff recommended hydraulic components from G.L. Rexroth GmbH, a small German company active primarily in Europe.

As new companies were added to the Rexroth "Drive and Control" portfolio, Basic developed the skills to market and support these programs throughout Canada. To better reflect the expanded product offering, the company name was changed to Basic Technologies Corp. In recognition of the importance of our marketplace and to further strengthen the company, Rexroth assumed a major equity stake in 1996.

In January 2001, Rexroth acquired a majority ownership of Basic Technologies Corp. As of May 1, 2001, Basic Technologies became Bosch Rexroth Canada Corp. as a result of the merger of the Bosch AT Group, a division of Robert Bosch in Stuttgart, Germany and Rexroth.
