Free seminar, which includes a hands-on lean simulation workshop, explores foundational principles of lean, and explains how lean production can dramatically cut waste to improve the bottom line.

(Burlington, Ontario – Canada – www.boschrexroth.ca) Manufacturers looking to apply lean production concepts to their operations – or to simply learn more about what these concepts entail – will benefit from the Lean Manufacturing Seminar offered by Bosch Rexroth Canada on two occasions February 23rd and 24th.

The free seminar features live presentations and a hands-on lean simulation workshop to demonstrate how a wide variety of manufacturers, both large and small, can dramatically improve material flow, increase productivity, balance their production systems, and cut waste in material, energy, and time. Bosch Rexroth lean manufacturing experts Steve Yardley and James Pettifer will provide a detailed overview of lean principles, and show how implementing lean production on the factory floor – from sophisticated automation to simple changes in parts storage – can improve the bottom line for any manufacturing operation where assembly tasks are being performed.

“Lean manufacturing is often thought to be a specialized technique that’s best suited to large automotive manufacturers with extensive investment in automation,” Yardley says. “But lean principles can be applied to any manufacturing processes of any size, and produce measurable results.” Yardley gives the example of a medium-sized manufacturer who saved considerable time and resources by rearranging its work flow to reduce moving materials with forklifts. “Going lean often means going beyond a purely automation-centered approach,” Pettifer says. “Any aspect of a manufacturing process, every step of the way, can yield potential ways to cut waste.”

While lean manufacturing concepts must be tailored to each company’s unique situation and needs, there are underlying principles common to all processes. Bosch Rexroth helps manufacturers understand and apply foundational lean principles, and supports manufacturers in their continuous improvement initiatives with a wealth of resource material including brochures, catalogs, audio podcasts, and software for calculating the cost and material advantages of lean.

The Lean Manufacturing Seminar is ideal for production engineers, business process consultants, production supervisors, management, and anyone involved in maximizing productivity and minimizing waste. The seminar takes place from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with breakfast and lunch included.
